Hand Finished Gallery:
Graphite Pencil
Here you'll find a collection of my more traditionally finished pieces. This means they've been created  pencil. Pencil is the basic structure for all my work. I use it both as a layout tool, and a finished technique. The secret is I use only one pencil: a Bic Maticgrip. That's right, a plain mechanical pencil. :) The pieces are organized by completion with the most recent at the top.
top.

"Balance" A little dabble back in the pencil finishes, Draco perches atop a pole much a martial artist would. A little unrealistic, but fun none the less.

"Pirate Vigil" I love the detail in this one. I used it at work for an example of graphite...the goal was to impress.

"Missing Link" Anyone who knows me knows I am a dinosaur enthusiast. I got bored the other day and decided I would draw the missing link from dinosaur's to avians. So...here it is...whatever it is. :)

"Facing Reality" Not much to say here really. Just sketch that turned out well when I had nothing better to do.

"Vendeta" Isn't it cute how the creatures play with things--just can't find toys that last.

"Clipper" A portrait of  one of my creations from a ways back. Just a really good finishing job on this one.

"Fizzgig!" is a cute little devil. This is my mother's dog. He was the best B-day present for my mom. I did this sketch from memory while waiting outside a doctor's office. Yes, I was very bored.

"DesertRose" Yes, I was inspired by that song. But it worked soooo well. :) The two chars in the scene are in love, but they're too busy saving the world to be able to give in to such a self-centered distraction. But don't worry, he gets the girl in the end and then they hit it off.

"Maltrick, the Enfield", I enjoyed sketching this picture after my best friend informed me about their existence in the fantasy realm. For I've always loved gryphons and foxes. Now I can get the best of both worlds!

"Lord of the Gryphons" is an older piece done in 1996. I actually drew it while I was at a rehearsal for a coronation. Hey, what can I say? I was waiting for my 3 minute song practice. I had to entertain myself somehow.

"Intruder" a fun example of complexity made simple. <Also a piece used to invoke a bit of jealousy.> So... I can draw gryphons in a matter of a few hours. :) Some people just don't like hearing that.

"Abarach" This piece was alot of fun to create. It happened by chance one day I was bored in between classes, so I began sketching this gryphon. Quite a few people stopped to take a look at the gryphon whose Gaelic name means "bold"

"Soilgheas and Aile" Aren't baby gryphons cute? Well, at the very least Aile is. Aile means "air" in Gaelic, and that little cute curled up beside her mother, Soilgheas "wind", seemed to just be a breath of fresh air. Total time=1hr 45min

"Bochuin" His name means "Swelling of the sea". I designed this fellow to be a water dragon... the effect was better then hoped. He was another one of those, I'm bored so I'll sketch. That's usually when my best work comes, he's proof.

"Trubador" One heck of a unicorn! He's an absolute must see for structure of a wild beast. His markings make him look rather on the exotic side. A Gaelic unicorn through and through.
