Hand Finished Gallery:
Colored Pencil
Here you'll find a collection of my more traditionally finished pieces. This means they've been created using colored pencil. I first learned to burnish using colored pencils back in high school quite by accident. Tending to like saturated colors I began to push down hard! The result--a new technique that gives me what I like to see, color! The pieces are organized by completion with the most recent at the top.

a Night To Remember "A Night To Remember" On nights when the sky is clear, and the winds are good you can hear the melody of  a far off tune drifting away...a sorrowful song to aid a heavy heart in recalling those days when things weren't so bad off...long ago...

"Time Cannot Erase" The Nightbird faces the harshest reality any soul can face...being left behind. But for her it's not just a lifetime--it is truely an eternity.
One of two finishes for this picture. The other can be found on the Marker Page.

"Sancho Fizzgig" DQ's companion and partner in grime. This is the piece I use at work to demonstrate the power of colored pencils. DQ's portrait may be found on the Marker page.

"Scheming" Mutiny is a great way to pass the time. So is weaving the rope that'll hang the cap'n.
This piece has been finished two ways. See the computer rendered version by clicking here.

"Enfuego, the chihuahua" Emerging from a joke while reading a role playing manual for 'After the Bomb', Enfuego <on fire> was born. A gangsta chihuahua with a passion for making things explode. Need I say more? Probably, but I'm not going to. >:)

"Merlin" An enfield of a rather different sort. He's a fox/merlin falcon/lion with attitude! The idea is to paint him on my Ren Fest char's shield. Erf...means I have to duplicate it! Sadly, the scan is not a very good one.

"Sanddancer" The first sketch of the sand fox, Mirage. A simple exercise in grace and femininity. I'm hoping I can come up with a tale for her someday.

"Sanddancers"  The hand finished version of the  celebration of the female figure with a definate twist. Won't find this in any anatomy book. But then again, furs are some of the toughest things to draw because they don't exist.

"Patriot" I dedication to the Sept. 11th disaster. I lost a friend on one of the planes. So, this piece using my Wartime critters Piper and Taps. Play on, Boys! Play on.

"A2001DSS" Click on the pretty head shot to find out what gives! Anubis isn't always a happy god... and his pooch, Sibuna needs lotsa excersize!

"I Didn't Do It" It's so hard being so little. If this gargoyle were real and saw this picture I'd be dead even as I type. She doesn't like being 'cute'. Boy am I glad she isn't real. :)

"Emerging" a colored pencil piece that involved a lot of time and effort. It was a lot of fun creating the reflection in the river.

"Windaria" Ahhh... how relaxing, how tranquil she looks playing on the hillside amongst here friends. Hmmm... where'd that come from? Perhaps she weaving a spell of destruction. That seems more my style, don't'cha think?

"Ashenpaw" A neat little idea for a character. She looks pretty tough, rugged and ticked, guess that's why I like her. :)

"Rusty" The very first picture that I mastered burnishing with colored pencils. This is supposed to be a portrait of myself in fur form. :) The artists at SEMVA like to call the next few drawings my "Wildlife Illustrated Swimsuit Issue." Hmmm... think they got something here.

"Sam" Contestant #2 in the swimsuit competition. A friend of mine even had me copy this drawing to a slab of wood so he could do a woodburn of the image. I think Sam's visable attitude caught his eye.

"Daisy" The more subdued of the whole bunch, she likes to sit by the pool and watch all the fun rather then cause a ruckus. Reminds me of a few of my friends.

"Shelly" Otters always know how to have fun, and I think Shelly shows that in her playful face. To me, she seems to be the one who can find the good, the fun, and the usefulness in every situation... even the ones Rusty gets into. :)

"Bowen" There had to be a guy in here somewhere. I'm still working on the male form a bit... haven't quite got it all squared away yet. But at least he's fuzzy. :)

"Liishan" The groups lil' tag a long sis. She's a cute little cheetah with big ideas... bigger then her older peers! Hard to imagine, but trust me... the one who this charater is modeled after takes the cake for big dreams! And she knows who she is.

"Slumberparty" There's a punch line to this gag. "You'll ruin your feminine figure, dear." Rusty remarks to the gorging tigress. All Sam wants is her bon bons!

"Gracetest" Well, I'm pretty sure I'd fail it too. The Carpe Diem club, as this collection of character's has become known as, surely can't dance. But give Daisy some time with her new boyfriend, Nikko, and she'll be dancing circles around the others.
