Mom's make good ghosties, especially mom's who don't mind getting before the lense of a camera in one of her homemade frilly nightgowns! Nightbird's parents happen to have a perfect hall for the setup with the glass. The light source was hidden in the doorway on the left side.

Here's a shot of the setup showing the den with dad sitting comfortably on the couch with the other little pom perched. Angle of the glass is critical in this one! As well as lighting. You need a long dark hall with a space to hide the light source, additionally, a fairly naturally bright room to shoot is important too as you will not be using flash. When Nightbird was shooting the final pictures, Fizzgig, the other pom wandered in and was staring through the glass at the camera. He was REAL curious as to what was going on down the hallway.
Tips and Tricks Once more, just like the ghost dog project, lighting is critical! The solid object room needs to be at a good balance so that it is bright enough to show objects clearly, but not so bright as to wash out the overlay. If your ghost is too faint, try a stronger light. If the ghost is too solid looking, bring the light concentration down. The angle of both the camera and the glass have huge impacts in where the reflected image you are shooting shows up. Play with both until you find the combination that allows your ghost to be where you'd like it. Keep in mind that anything reflective might catch the light and show up in the glass! Dress your subject in pale colors, and yourself in DARK colors. You will be between the subject and the glass and will show up as well if you aren't careful. If going for a ghost with a historic flare try and have the era span be significant. In this case there is the mother-of-pearl lamp in the corner of the fireplace. The decor is more modern-ish, the ghost is dressed in a more aged fashion. Special thanks to Nightbird's mom for being a good sport and posing!
